Abstract

This article describes the validation of the design, construction and result of the first nanosatellite prototype with educational purposes by the Engineering School of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, to create interest and approach aerospace engineering as a matter of study and development in the School. In order to reach this goal, simulation and design methods were considered and the work was done by using materials and tools which allowed to solve inherent challenges found in the applications. Projects of this size and features usually represent a multidisciplinary challenge that is often considered a reality away from nationwide development capacities. Nevertheless, this article is intended to demonstrate that the study of aerospace sciences is not a distant reality with respect to the School development, possibly turning into an important contribution, either by its educational or industrial innovative applications, which may also be extended to country-wide potential and to relevant implications.
