‘To marvel when observing the beauty of a river in nature, admiring the forms created by the flows in the mountains and the valleys, and to appreciate life formed around water, raises curiosity in the human being to understand the complexity in the relationship with its environment and water is, and to discover the secrets of the courses and the role of rivers as ecosystem keepers in hydrologic river basins […] […] These motivations must have inspired the work of Ramon Salas Edwards as engineer, professor and researcher. His contributions to the development of infrastructure in the country at the beginning of XX Century and his academic work in the Catholic University and the University of Chile, place him as one of the most remarkable engineers in our history, whose scientific contributions also meant a technical progress in designing water transport and distribution constructions for different applications’.
