Mechanical Engineering is the branch of Engineering that pertains to energy conversion and the design, production and operation of machines, while Metallurgical Engineering deals with the extraction, purification, alloying and fabrication of metals. The Department of Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering (DIMM) at UC has seven research laboratories and 14 faculty members.
